Applications are now open for the 2026 FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar Scholarship. This prestigious award provides up to R1.5 million for a Master degree and up to R2 million for a PhD, enabling South African citizens to pursue postgraduate study at any international university of their choice, in any discipline.
Since its inception, the scholarship has stood out not only for its generous funding but also for the personal interest Laurie Dippenaar takes in the selection process and the ongoing progress of recipients. The year 2025 marked the 19th time this scholarship was awarded, cementing its reputation as one of South Africa most distinguished postgraduate opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
– Be South African citizens
– Preferably be under the age of 35
– Not currently be studying overseas or have previously studied abroad for degree purposes
– Commit to returning to South Africa for at least five years after completing their studies
