Built From the Inside.
Focused on the Sector.
Africa’s NGO and development-sector job board, run by someone who spent seven years doing the work.
Sobia Issahaku Adam
Development practitioner turned digital builder. Seven years in the field. Seven years running this platform. Now entirely focused on connecting Africa’s NGO talent with the roles that matter.
I did not arrive at this from the outside looking in.
From 2012 to 2018, I worked as a Project Officer and MIS Officer with ProNet North on the Greater Rural Opportunities for Women project, a MEDA-funded initiative that improved the livelihoods and economic empowerment of over 1,000 women households across Northern Ghana while advancing infant and young child feeding objectives.
Alongside that work, I partnered with Farmerline, Literacy Bridge, and Esoko to disseminate critical weather, agronomic, and market systems data to smallholder farmers in the Northern region. I also spent a meaningful part of that season doing something I still consider among the most rewarding work of my career: helping fresh university graduates make informed career choices, preparing their CVs, and guiding them toward scholarships and opportunities they did not yet know were available to them.
That combination of field experience, data systems work, and career guidance shaped everything about how I think about jobs, development careers, and the professionals who dedicate their lives to this sector.
Support Built for Development Professionals
Finding a role in the NGO and humanitarian sector is not the same as applying for a corporate job. The terminology is different. The application requirements are more demanding. The competition is international. And the stakes, for candidates who are genuinely mission-driven, are personal.
Beyond listing verified roles from INGOs, UN agencies, and development organisations across Africa, we offer hands-on job search support tailored specifically for development professionals:
CV Preparation
Aligned to NGO and donor-funded programme requirements, with competency-based formats and sector-specific language.
LinkedIn Optimisation
For development professionals looking to be found by international recruiters and INGO hiring managers.
Managed Job Applications
A trusted partner handling your applications, tracking deadlines, and tailoring materials role by role.
Career Guidance
For early-career professionals navigating their first international roles, sector transitions, or career re-entry.
Sector Knowledge, Not Just Technology
Most job boards are built by technologists. This one was built by someone who has sat in a project vehicle in the Northern Region, worked alongside field teams, supported MIS reporting for donor programmes, and spent years helping people find their footing in a sector that demands both passion and professionalism.
That background is not incidental. It is the reason this platform exists, and it is what makes the support we offer different from a generic careers service.
100% Ad-Free
Sobiaonline Jobs carries no advertising. It is funded entirely by membership subscriptions and career services clients. That independence means every decision is made in the interest of the job seekers and employers we serve, not an advertiser.
You are in the right place.
Whether you are a development professional looking for your next role across Africa, or an NGO looking to reach serious, mission-aligned candidates.
