Resource Justice Network (RJN) is seeking an exceptional leader and Director of Programes to help shape the next phase of its Strategy 2030 as Director of Programmes.

RJN - formerly Publish What You Pay - is the world's largest civil society network advocating for the just and equitable governance of our planet's natural resources. With over 1,000 member organisations across more than 50 countries, we work alongside communities on the frontlines of extractive and energy projects to advance justice, accountability and transparency in the oil, gas and mining industries. Our vision is one of shared prosperity on a thriving planet: societies governing their natural resources in just and equitable ways, in harmony with the planet.

The Director of Programmes is a senior leadership role at the heart of delivering RJN's Strategy 2030. Sitting on the Senior Leadership Team and reporting to the Executive Director, the Director will strengthen programme coherence, organisational effectiveness and delivery across our distributed Secretariat - ensuring our regional, policy, communications and membership functions reinforce one another to maximise collective impact. Supervising six senior programme leaders spanning our five regions and our policy and communications work, the Director will translate organisational priorities into action, support programme leaders to succeed, and nurture a collaborative, accountable and high-performing culture.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape the delivery of an ambitious global strategy at a pivotal moment for the energy transition, working alongside a global movement of members and communities on the frontlines of resource governance.

We are seeking a strategic, collaborative and delivery-focused leader who can bring together programme integration, people leadership, portfolio oversight and organisational learning to strengthen RJN's impact worldwide.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Bring substantial senior leadership experience (at least five years) in international development, civil society, governance, resource justice, climate, energy transition or a related field;
  • Have led geographically dispersed, multicultural teams, including managing senior managers;
  • Have a strong track record of managing complex programme portfolios, donor-funded initiatives and restricted budgets;
  • Be an outstanding people leader, able to coach, mentor and develop high-performing, diverse teams;
  • Lead through influence, building trust and collaboration across diverse teams, cultures and regions;
  • Have lived and/or professional experience in one or more of RJN's five regions (Africa, Eurasia, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, and Latin America), with a strong understanding of Global South civil society and movement dynamics;
  • Be deeply committed to RJN's mission, values and member-centred ways of working.

Fluency in English is essential. French, Arabic, Russian or Spanish is highly desirable but not essential. The role requires occasional international travel (up to six times per year).

  • Location: Remote
  • Reporting: Administrative reporting to RJN; strategic guidance from EITI Civil Society Board Members
  • Application deadline: August 17, 2026

Resource Justice Network (RJN) is seeking a Civil Society Constituency Coordinator for EITI engagement.

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a global standard promoting transparency and accountability in the oil, gas and mining sectors. Civil society is one of its three constituencies, alongside governments and companies, and plays a critical role in ensuring EITI implementation supports public debate, civic participation and responsible natural resource governance.
Since 2019, RJN has served as the focal point coordinating civil society's engagement in the EITI. The Coordinator role builds on this history, providing dedicated support to the civil society constituency while safeguarding its independence, ownership and credibility.

The Coordinator will support elected Civil Society Board members and alternates to prepare for and follow up on EITI Board and committee meetings, strengthen coordination and information flow across the constituency, and help maintain institutional memory across Board cycles. Every three years, the role also takes on a substantial coordination function, managing the renewal of the Civil Society Board and the EITI Association membership registry.
We are seeking a credible, trustworthy and technically competent individual who can combine strategic advice, coordination and facilitation skills to strengthen the effectiveness and inclusiveness of civil society participation in EITI governance.

The ideal candidate will:
- Bring at least five years' experience in global extractive sector oversight, ideally within EITI governance;
- Understand civil society's role in multi-stakeholder governance;
- Have experience in coalition-building and constituency coordination;
- Write clear, concise analysis and handle confidential, sensitive information with sound judgement;
- Work independently and deliver to deadline;
- Have excellent English; French, Spanish, Russian or Arabic is a plus.

Knowledge of EITI processes, Civil Society Board members, national multi-stakeholder groups or international civil society networks would be considered a strong advantage.
This is a consultancy role at approximately two days per week, undertaken remotely, running from as soon as possible through to 31 December 2027.

The full Terms of Reference are here. To apply, please click here. Applications close at midnight UTC on Monday 17 August 2026.

You will need to submit:
- A CV outlining your work experience, qualifications and competence;
- A conflict of interest statement identifying any past, present or anticipated consultancies or roles related to EITI, with proposed mitigation measures;
- Confirmation of your availability for approximately two days per week through 31 December 2027;
- A financial proposal stating a daily rate in USD.

RJN, NRGI and the EITI International Secretariat encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and are committed to equitable and transparent recruitment.
