DW Akademie International Media Studies (IMS) Programme 2026 for Media

Applications are now open for the 2026 DW Akademie International Media Studies (IMS) Programme in Germany. This Master degree program is designed for students worldwide who aspire to take on leadership roles in journalism and the communications sector.
The program combines academic study with practical training, preparing participants to become influential voices in media and communication.

Target Audience
The IMS program is especially aimed at:
– Media representatives from radio, TV, online, and print
– Journalists-in-training, particularly in electronic media
– Journalists and managers from community radio stations
– Communication experts
– NGO employees
– Employees from ministries and cooperative development projects
– Representatives from regional working groups and national broadcasters
– Media association representatives

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
– Hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent
– Have at least one year of professional experience in a media-related field after graduation
– Be proficient in English (the program is taught in English)

Scholarship Opportunities
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a limited number of scholarships to up to 10 highly qualified applicants from developing countries.
To qualify for a DAAD scholarship, applicants must:
– Have obtained their last university degree no longer than six years ago
– Submit additional required documents (as listed on the DAAD website)
