The Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarships 2026/2027 for Foreign Students

The Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarships 2026/2027 are now accepting applications. Administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this fully funded scholarship program offers international students the opportunity to pursue Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate Master degrees at leading institutions in Brunei Darussalam.
Participating institutions include:
– Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD)
– Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA)
– Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB)
– Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB)
– Politeknik Brunei (PB)
The academic year begins in July/August 2026.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
– Be under 25 years old for Undergraduate/Diploma programs and under 35 years old for Master programs (as of July 1, 2026)
– Demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following:
– Credit 6 at GCE O Level Examination
– Grade C in IGCSE English (Second Language)
– TOEFL score of at least 550
– IELTS score of at least 6.0
– Be international students applying to study in Brunei for the first time (Brunei Permanent Residents are not eligible)

Scholarship Benefits
Recipients will receive:
– Full exemption from tuition fees (including acceptance, examination, registration, and orientation fees)
– Economy-class airfare to and from Brunei Darussalam
– Monthly personal allowance of BND$500
– Monthly meals allowance of BND$150
– Annual book allowance of BND$600
– Accommodation at university/polytechnic residential colleges
– Baggage allowance upon completion:
– BND$250 for ASEAN countries
– BND$500 for non-ASEAN countries
– Comprehensive insurance coverage for the duration of the scholarship

Obligations of Scholarship Recipients
Recipients must:
– Abide by scholarship rules and regulations
– Respect Brunei customs, culture, and official religion
– Obey Brunei laws and refrain from political activities
– Undergo health screening in Brunei if required

Application Procedure
– Applications must be submitted by 15 February 2026 (23:59 Brunei time)
– Applicants cannot change their program or institution once admitted
– Interviews and written exams may be required to assess language proficiency (English/Malay/Arabic)
– Required documents include:
– Certified copies of passport, birth certificate, or national ID
– Certified copies of academic qualifications and transcripts
– Certified English translations (if documents are not in English)
– Proof of English proficiency
– Proof of employment (if applicable)
– References and recommendations
– Research proposal (for research-based programs)
